Viking Game...

This is an elimination game.  Sit everyone in a circle.  Select one person to start.  They start growling/screaming and have their hands up on their heads like horns.  Then they point to someone and say their name.  That person is then "it" and has to start growling and screaming, while the two people on either side have to row the canoe correctly:  they have to row on the outside of the canoe (on the side opposite the person screaming).  So you have one person screaming, and two people rowing the canoe.  Then the person who has the "horns" on and is screaming points to someone else, says their name and that person then starts screaming, and the two folks on each side paddle.  You are out if 1.  You don't row on the correct side of the canoe or 2.  you do the incorrect action (paddle when you should be screeming or vice versa).  Have the eliminated players sit in the middle.  This keeps them in the game.  Also, as people get out, don't have people move chairs.  There will be big gaps (eventually) between people which makes it harder to know when to row.

  • 20 minutes (depends on circle size)
  • Jr. High
  • 10 - 40 people
  • the louder the better
  • you have to be a stickler to get people out.
  • Some jr. high groups "get" this (and love it) and some don't...
